Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi are sister and brother, and also married. During a feast, Ukemochi the Goddess of Food created food by pulling delicious meals from weird parts of her body. She pulled food from her mouth, her nose, and then from her butt.

Tsukuyomi was so disgusted that he killed her, which pissed off Amaterasu. She didn't want to see her husband again. And that's why the day and night are separate.

⚔️ There’s another famous story about how Susano-o pooped. Susano-o is a wild and unpredictable god.

One time, Susano-o had an argument with his sister, Amaterasu, and did a bunch of uncool things, including dropping his pants and pooping right in the middle of Amaterasu’s temple.

She kicked him out of Heaven. Susano-o had some adventures on Earth, but he missed Heaven. Luckily, one day he killed a massive snake with 8 heads and 8 tails.

From its corpse, he found some loot: The Heavenly Sword of Gathering Clouds, or Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi. Later, its name changed to the Grass-Cutting Sword, or Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi.

He offered it to Amaterasu, and she forgave him.
