You can tell the difference between a maiko and a geisha by looking at their outfits and hair. Maiko have more elaborate hairstyles, wear more hair accessories, and dress in more colorful kimonos 👘.
Maiko wear kimonos with longer sleeves, called furisode. They also have brightly colored collars, while geisha have white collars that are sometimes shaded a bit red.
Basically, geisha have a simple and subtle look, while maiko are kinda extra.
